SPRING ALL YEAR ROUND WITH 100 LACE FLOWERS TO CROCHET

Updated: Sep 21, 2023

Originally written in Spanish.

April is here, and a discussion always comes with it. When does spring really start? At the beginning of March, with the meteorological spring? Or perhaps a bit later, with the astronomical spring? Discussions aside, for me, spring begins when color emerges in the fields and gardens, when the long-expected flowers start to bloom.

Flowers always make us happy after a harsh and gray winter. Their multiple color combinations offer us inspiration when choosing colors for our projects. There are many designs inspired by flowers on Ravelry and other publications.

If you crochet them, you can have a great variety that will accompany you for the rest of the year. It is an ideal project for those yarn scraps that you have at home. You can also make them to test new color combinations.

Caitlin Sainio's book called “100 Lace Flowers to Crochet: A Beautiful Collection of Decorative Floral and Leaf Patterns for Thread Crochet” is a great source of patterns that you should have in your craft library. You can make crochet flowers as appliqués to help you give a special touch to a t-shirt, sweater, or jacket. If you turn them into brooches, you can wear them on different garments. They can also be made as bookmarks to be given as little gifts to your loved ones or sewn on a cushion to give a personal touch to your home.

The book explores the lace technique using basic crochet stitches. It has a glossary with all the techniques you need for each of the projects, which makes it suitable for crocheters of all levels. They are quick projects with patterns in many colors and styles.

The wide variety of colors offered by organic cotton opens up a world of possibilities. No matter what season you are in, you can enjoy the colors of spring all year long. Check out our yarn suggestions below.
