POP-UP STORES

Updated: Aug 3, 2023

The idea of a pop-up store is simple: they are intentionally temporary stores, or temporary shared retail spaces, of a particular brand in a physical space for a limited period. Some of them you may not even notice that they are pop-ups because they often look like usual stores.

The use of pop-up stores by virtual brands, which otherwise would not have a physical space, is increasing. It allows the opportunity to experiment with less risk without being tied to the constraints of traditional long-lease stores.

For us, as consumers, it’s also a plus. We have the opportunity to see and touch the products of brands we like and follow virtually and have only seen in photos before. It's a perfect match for our community!

Although many of us have our favorite local yarn shop well stocked, we are worldly. We follow designers, small indie dyers, and brands from all over the world. Ravelry, online stores, Instagram, and YouTube are our common ground.

Usually, the pop-up store's opening presents itself as an event to be celebrated. It can happen with just one brand, as we saw with La Bien Aimée boutique éphémère, or a joint venture, as it's going to occur next May 13th, where Joji Locatelli, a well-known knitwear designer and co-owner of Joji & Co, will be accompanied by Pura Hilados, Winelvi, and Budetex.

The pop-up is going to happen at the Joji & Co warehouse. It's going to be an opportunity not only to get to know Joji herself, see some of her new designs firsthand, and be swept off our feet by her gorgeous leather project bags but also to get to know Winelvi designs, buy hand-dyed yarn from Pura Hilados, and all those knitting goodies from Budetex that we love so much.

So if you are in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on the 13th of May, you cannot miss this opportunity!
